Other events, 2025 - week 46

There is a major under 12 event taking place in Spain - the Carlos Moya Festival at the Rafa Nadal Academy, restricted to 2 players maximum per nation.  Our two boys are doing well. Kai Max Hodkinson is in the singles semis, and partners Tomas Gabor in the doubles final.  Max's semi is on at 9am tomorrow GMT, with live scores and streaming available from links here

There are a number of Brits faring well in low level ITFs including:

Trnava J100 (Slovakia): Rhys Lawlor is in the semis facing the top seed
Fujairah J30 (UAE): Haqim Kamal plays the 4th seed in the final
Siauliai J30 (Lithuania): Matilda Cabrera Burns lost in the semis (singles and doubles)
Yaounde J30 (Cameroon): Second seed Harry Cornhill is through to the final, facing the number 1 seed and doubles partner. The pair contest the doubles final.
Changhua J60 (Chinese Taipei): Wildcard Rosie Cho is through to the semis. Kasra Nathaniel Shirazi reached the quarters before losing
Pszczyna J60 (Poland): Casey Drake is through to the doubles semis

There may well be others I have missed

Tomas Gabor has done well to reach QFs in TE event in Spain. I notice Fletcher Davies was a WC too which is interesting. And particularly good to see Haqiim Kamal doing well.

Its good to see Rhys Lawlow getting some more success. He seemed to have stalled a little so nice to see things going better for him.

In Fujairah Haqim came up trumps winning his first ITF title 6-4 6-2
In Yaounde Harry Cornhill wrapped up the doubles title yesterday with Indian Ni**** Arimilli - singles final is today
In Changhua Rosie Cho nicked a third set tiebreak to reach the final
In Poland Casey Drake is in the doubles final

In Yaounde Harry had a walkover against his doubles partner Nish1t Arimilli so comes away with both titles. The singles is his first but he has 4 other doubles titles this year, all in Africa

Well done to Rosie Cho, who won the singles title in the J60 in Changhua - her first title at this level, I think

And here's a for young Karim, and two for Harry

PS Thanks, David, for picking up my slack

In Spain Max takes the title 5-7 7-6(4) [10-4]

His game appears to be built on good movement and solidity, but he will need to add much more of an attacking dimension to prosper at a higher level

Excellent !

My June 29 2024 report at Surbiton (I'm sure everyone's filed it in their archives biggrin) was very positive about Rhys (even though Martin Weston was giving him a dressing down) - he was the one that stood out for me, that day, against Jay, Louis, Felix, Zech etc etc

He's got 60 points coming off at the end of Nov so, ignoring the immediate blip, it'll only be 40 points extra come December. But, in theory, he's playing the J100 in Norway next week, followed by the J200 in Norway the week after, and then back to the UK for the J100 in Loughborough

Not sure he'll quite manage all that but he's certainly set himself up very well for 2026.

One more junior ITF title as Casey Drake (with Hubert Plenkiewicz of Poland) won his fifth doubles title of the last year, first in Europe

That was 10 junior ITF titles in all when you add on the 4 from the Liverpool J60.

With 5 senior tities as well, week 46 was record equalling for the titles thread for the years from 2020 to 2025
