Worth a mention that Alex Bolt is in the mens challenger final as well. Katie goes first and Alex follows her. Would be very nice for them both if they both take a title!

Alex is entered into the Sydney Challenger next week I see ..

Katie has posted on Insta that her coach is also in the final .........

Seriously? Tung-Lin Wu is her coach?!biggrin

Might be tongue in cheek, but Alex is there for her anyway

On a serious note, I can imagine Alex does give her coaching advice, hes got experience and seems a guy who knows his way around a court. And he obviously has been around the womens game as well.

good luck to both of them.

I assumed he was coaching her given her long stint in Australia. She must have been there 2 to 3 months now.

Anyway super result.  Hopefully she gets a Wednesday start for Sydney. Difficult to know whether she would be wise to skip this tournament but given she won't be seeded for either of the next 2 tournaments, on balance I think she should play as there is always the possibility she could get a poor draw and be out in the 1st round.

What an amazing result - I tried to watch the first set, but was too tired and I just couldn't see her winning.

This fight back, again over 3 sets, shows great things about her character and fitness; lovely surprise to wake up to- well done Katie.

Hopefully she will still have enough energy to play Sydney. I am sure that a lot of her goals for this season have already been achieved and she already has built a platform to have a great chance of making the top 100 next season, but to make Aussie Open qualifying would be even more satisfying. To think that she only had one point in January and no ranking - what a turnaround.

Fantastic result!!! Couldn't stay awake for the 3rd set but after winning the 2nd set I felt she had the edge, and it was just a question of fitness   winner.gif biggrinbiggrin

Alex was strong favourite to win but nevertheless, just the best week for the Swan and Bolt families smile

Wei was by far the best opponent Katie has faced in Australia.

At times throughout the match Wei had Katie running from side to side at full stretch and certainly in 2nd and 3rd sets was deploying drop shot and lob tactics so this was by far the toughest and most physical match Katie has played for a couple of years

In the 3rd set she did a little stretch of both hamstrings in game 4, and again a tiny stretch before game 6. Otherwise she finished the game super strong.

The only downside was that the replay feed shows Wei receiving her runners up prize but we don't see Katie pick up the trophy.

So elated to see how physically strong she was after 3 sets biggrinbiggrin

Wow. This is very impressive. Some great wins back to back. Biggest title in a while and some long tough matches.

Im kind of hoping she takes a week off now.

Plenty of events still to come.
