Fell asleep with Katie 4-5 in the second but convinced I'd wake up to a loss, only to find she turned it around. Goodness me, she's a fighter.
I watched the MTO carefully and they did not work on her back but on her left leg. They returned after a few games but she decided to carry on without treatment. Of course, what happened after I fell asleep, I have no idea.
Marvellous
You fell asleep just at the best bit, with Katie saving match points after that, having her next serve under threat and then having one of the best games of her tennis career to break Aiava for the second set. If you or anyone else were to look at five minutes of the replay, have a look at the second set game where Aiava was 6-5 down and Katie broke her to take the second set 7-5.
Aiava is a very good player and this was one hell of a performance.
Crazy scene at the handshake, the metal singles stick got a real thump and fell with a clatter on the court, did Aiava lose it and wack it with her racquet ? Don't know if there was a handshake even. There hadn't been any animosity at all in the match.
Did anyone catch the underarm serve Aiava tried in the 4th game of the last set? (I think it was then, and I think it went wide of the service box). That match had everything.

yes, Aiva gave it a right whack didn't she? she does shake Katie's hand though, albeit briefly
I switched it on when Katie was 2-0 down in the third. Katie seemed very determined and immediately broke back, started with three faulty serves but recovered to hold service after going 15-40 down. Two service holds took it to 3-3 and Katie then took three games without trouble, breaking twice in the process. Emerson was playing well but nothing seemed to phase Katie, from 2-0 down she just took control.

Beating Emerson Jones particularly after a highly competitive, long match the day before is amazing news. Project AO qualifying is back on track. Exciting times.
I was scared to wake up and see Katie had had to retire in todays match but this is highly impressive.
Now win it all Katie!
That was what I expected to happen - I thought she would be too tired to complete another match against such a good young player.
To have beaten possibly Australia's best young prospect on the back of that marathon match is better than I could have hoped for. She goes into the final off 2 very long matches and nothing to lose. I also expected her opponent to be Taylah Preston (again) - not sure how she will feel about facing Wei - very hard match for her, but just brilliant she has done so well.
As Emmsie and others say, the Aussie Open qualifiers are possible from here, if everything goes perfectly.
Fantastic news to wake up to again. And by the sound of it another match she won by determination.
We all know that Katie has the class to beat the field, but doing it after not having played back-to-back matches against players of this level for so long is, i imagine, very tiring physically and mentally. Especially for her.
Win or lose she is back to playing at the level of top 200's, without breaking down physically. I'm looking forward to watching the replay to look for clues about how she's feeling. I think my pick for player of the month for November is now nailed on!
* edited to make more sense ..

How good is Katie S? Just wondering if there are similarities in her career trajectory with Katie B , who suffered that horrendous back injury but re-bounded to eventually reach top 30s. Is Katie S potentially as good? There seems to be a lot of excitement on the board about her recent success hence the wondering!!
Katie is definitely in "no pain, no gain" territory at the moment, folk only need to keep an eye on her between points in that third set to see that it's not just the opponent that she is battling. On the plus side however, Swan is striking the ball so well at the moment, with such good placement, it's giving her the chance to win these matches. Hopefully, there's enough fight left in the tank to complete the task, and take the title. Go for it, Katie.
