Week 46 - ATP Challenger 75 - All in all Open Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes - Lyon, France (indoor hard)

Great stuff again, well done Liam. Just outside the top 300 now, a win (and I dont expect one!) would take him to 269. That would even give him a shot at AO qualies of Bergamo goes well; clearly a longshot.

BTW, he will have an SE to Bergamo, won't he? Are there any other contenders for it?

Actually, Darts aren't showing any SE slots for Bergamo, so maybe they haven't got any to offer?

And Liam will miss out on qualies, probably, with being in the final here?

Added went down in three.

JLS's win was by 1-6 7-6(5) 6-2 over LL Dan Added, so he didn't exactly stride into the final, surviving a tight TB second set after being well beaten in the first set.

Paulisi on the previous page seemed to think so - & Darts has him as 9th ALT for the main draw, whatever that may mean.

Effetively 9 players need to drop out to let him in, if he doesn't get an SE spot.

I assumed there would be one, not sure entirely how it works for different levels of challenger with Bergamo being a 100?

Re Indy - not entirely sure re Bergamo starting tomorrow, there is no draw out, so it maybe Sunday - if so, I guess he could make it down IF he is in qualies.

indeed - the question being asked / posed is does he get an SE from his work this week and therefore to the main draw. darts is showing him in qualies still with no SE; like Paulisi, I assumed he Would have one but dont really know the rules, tbh!

There is an entry list on the tournament website:  https://internazionalidibergamo.it/

Liam is a long way down the list of alts, but he has clearly entered. Doesn't this make an SE automatic?

Liam has only lost a single set in 6 matches this week - good going!

Thats a shame - is it because it is a 100event and the other events are lesser?

Due to their continued play in the previous event, the player must be unable to travel and sign in for the qualifying competition of the subsequent tournament on time.

Maybe its because the Lyon final is Saturday and Bergamo qualies starts Sunday so players would have time to travel?

As has been said no SE for Liam in Bergamo so he won't do an overnight trip to be on court next morning but will be in a Czech 25 k week after.

Struff is looking very, very solid.  He leads by a set and a break.  2-1, struff to serve

Final: (Q) Liam Broady WR 391 lost to (6) Jan-Lennard Struff (GER) WR 100 (CH = 21 in June 2023) 4-6 4-6

The week's fine effort appeared to take a toll on Liam, but he fought to the end
