Boys: J200 Cairo, Egypt, clay (Week 45)

Mark Ceban is seeded 5 in this J200 event and plays one of the strongest non-seeds, who has a higher ATP ranking.

R1 (L32)

Damien Clerc (FRA) v (5) Mark Ceban

Mark came through his tricky opener. He is in the same section as the top seed, who retired from his match.

R1 (L32)

(5) Mark Ceban d. Damien Clerc (FRA) 2-6 6-3 6-4

R2

(SE) Marwan Ehab (EGY) v (5) Mark Ceban

Interesting that Mark chose the clay route - is he known for liking clay or perhaps planning to play a number of events on the stuff (in anticipation for the big early December events in Florida, perhaps?)

All the J200 and higher events are on clay at this time of year.  Mark progresses smoothly to the quarter-final

R2

 (5) Mark Ceban  d. (SE) Marwan Ehab (EGY) 6-1 6-4

QF

(Q) Christopher Thies (GER) v (5) Mark Ceban

That would explain why he is playing on clay!

The only ranking list where the British number one is still in question across the main mens and womens singles and doubles, wheelchair and juniors is the boys.

A good week for Mark might move him close to if not into second spot, over Ben G-W, and it looks like closing in on Oli Bonding at the top?
