Boys & Girls: J200 Szekesfehervar, Hungary, indoor clay (Week 43)

Mark Ceban and Hollie Smart are both seeded here. Mark has a potentially tricky starter against a German who was ranked above him, with a couple of tournament wins in August, before Mark's recent success in Vigo.

Boys R1 (L32)

(4) Mark Ceban v Oliver Majdandzic (GER)

Girls R1 (L32)

(7) Hollie Smart v (Q) Gwendolyn Fedel (GER)

The tricky match proved too much for Mark. Hollie is 7th on court.

A comfortable win for Hollie at least, though she next has to play a girl on a 21 match unbeaten streak. Daniella is in the doubles while Hollie+ are seeded 2. Mark+ are seeded 1 in the boys

Girls R1 (L32)

(7) Hollie Smart d. (Q) Gwendolyn Fedel (GER) 6-3 6-2

R2

(7) Hollie Smart v Iulia Maria Buculei (ROU)

Excellent win for Hollie to end the long unbeaten streak of her opponent. In the quarters she plays a girl who benefited from the retirement of the second seed - though Nikola did win her last J200 event on clay.

R2

(7) Hollie Smart d. Iulia Maria Buculei (ROU) 6-2 7-5

QF

(7) Hollie Smart v Nikola Farkasova (SVK)

Nice job by Hollie to win her QF in two pretty easy sets

Lovely to see her really consolidating her position as #2 of the 2009-born GB players

Top 100 is a given, when the 2007-ers roll off but should happen earlier

Out of interest, is there a specific date that the 2007-ers roll off ie first ranking in January (they are on the last in Dec, off the first in Jan?) or sooner in December?
