I had a quick flick through Mimis match on ITF replay. She played well, more aggressive than yesterday. Impressed with that second serve though, seems to be a big improvement. Also very secure around the net which with Mimis doubles experience you may have expected.
Ella looked really one paced and out of sorts . I have seen Malygina a few times in Glasgow and she is nothing special but looked like a world beater against Ella today.
I didnt think Ella was that good all week. She beat two players who were error strewn and then came up against a solid player, who made few mistakes
To be brutally honest the standard here is pretty low for W100, particularly compared to the lower W75 in Glasgow next week. Unless there is a sudden exodus, that may give a better indication as to where our younger players are at. Mika, currently doing well against Lucie, currently ranked in the 600s so should be pretty easy. Noticed Lucie was up to 196 when she was 18 but wonder if she has been injured.Anyway should be relatively easy.
Lucie missed a whole year from the end of May 2024, returning in a W15 in Serbia with no ranking. So she's done well to climb up to WR314 again in under five months.
