Alicia's coach is Sam Mannix. She was an assistant coach at University of Florida in Alicia's last 2 years there and guided Alicia to her doubles NCAA semi-final last year.
Mimi is a set down. Very close match. The 7th game went to at least 10 deuce points.
She is playing the number 3 seed ranked over a hundred places above her. I think we are maybe starting to see the difference between a w100 and the w35 last week. Some sweet draws for some GB women but others like Mimi and Mika are much tougher in Wrexham.

There isnt much of a gap and Mimi was the favourite at the start of the match with the bookies
That was some match - 2h 30 mins and Ranah lost by the narrowest of margins. The levels from both players were exceptional.
Not seen Ranah for a few years, but if she plays like that, she will be a top 250 player in no time.
Unfortunately that has been the story for the last three or four years now
She always plays like that and she never gets to be top-250
I still have her in my top-10 most years as she has SO much talent
But I've heard that she has a lot of problems with finding the right coach, the bigwigs at the NTC don't really rate her ..... it's such a shame
But at least she was being watched, so maybe..
Indeed - I know there are some who bat for her, thankfully - but at least one person, in particular, who has a real downer on her
Needless to say, I don't like the downer person who shall remain nameless (although not really)
Very interesting. To my mind it is players with a very good top level, while maybe inconsistent, who should really interest bigwigs, and they should try to help and get behind that player to help them be all they can be. That too logical, too sensible? Maybe too challenging for some?

Ooh. Never listen to them TBH! Mimi has a good position now in the second, but still a way to go. She fell away badly in the third set in the quarters at Birmingham so hopefully she can put in a better third set if it goes that far today.
