Week 43 - ITF W100 Wrexham, Great Britain - Hard (Indoor)

That's a good point, Var. Looking at out top ten doubles players, Ella is the youngest at 20 and Emily Appleton next youngest at 26. In around five years time I wouldn't expect many of the current top ten to be still up there in the rankings.

Mika is SO close to being top 16 year-old in the world - but misses out by ONE place

Julieta - 351
Mika - 352

Can she achieve it before her birthday in December?

FWIW she could have achieved it by starting a MD match in Glasgow and adding a ranking point as level on points with Pareja who evidently isn't playing this week.

Sorry I'm super late to the party with this comment but did anyone else notice that Mika seemed to miss quite a lot of forehands cross court into the net on aggressive balls in the final. I've not watched her much yet but that stood out to me in particular cos it's a shot that I tended to miss in a similar way when more nervous/eager to impress so identified with it a lot and the way she paused after it in frustration. Does that tend to be one she makes a few more errors on? I imagine she was pretty tired by then - I think she was quoted as saying so after the match (whilst still trying to make sure when gave Mimi credit) - so not surprised she missed a few more easier shots. I think from memory it happened more in the first set and she managed to miss those easier ones less and was just being pushed by Mimis excellent retrieving in the end.

Just wondered if anyone else had thoughts on that cross court forehand though

Mika is so accurate on the backhand, so the forehand is more vulnerable.
She didnt miss too many in the earlier rounds, so it may have just been pressure.

Or that Mimi's shots were better placed than those of Mika's previous opponents

Ruby may be a set down, but she is such an exciting prospect - strong serve and very attacking; struggles a bit coming forward and a few shanks/wild shots, but great movement. All being well, she'll be very well set up to succeed after college.
