Its the last Super Category event of the year, with Sofia Tatu having an outside chance of qualifying for the end of year Masters event. There are 8 places in the Masters - 6 for the top placed in the race rankings, one for the European champion or runner-up (who both are in the top 6 anyway, as far as the girls are concerned) and one wildcard. Last year Megan Knight and Scott Watson won the Masters. Grace Watson is safe in the top 7, while Milica Milojevic is currently 6th, but likely to be overtaken. Sofia cannot reach the top 7, but usually one or two of the top girls opt not to compete so still has a chance.
Emily Craven came through qualifying but has drawn the second seed, a threat to Milica's place

Finally after 1 minute shy of 4 hours, with the majority of shots able to go in with a net twice the height (at least in the bits of the later stages of the third set which I saw) Sofia prevails. She is back tomorrow third match on the same court, with the first at 9am BST

(3) Sofia Tatu d. (13) Arina Fomina (***) 6-2 3-6 7-6(2)
Sofia couldn't follow--up after her 4 hour marathon, and the points gleaned won't be enough to make the Masters without a large number of dropouts. Milica will probably be pushed out of the top 7, but still has a good chance after dropouts.

Poor soul looked exhausted in her previous match, so not surprised
