In fact , Beijing play is guaranteed at least through Tuesday as Henry wont play again til then
Does that mean next week counts towards September POM rather than October?
Hi SuperT - its complicated!
the september period ends with the week 39 Events - which is those ending today; however, the Chinese Open caused the complication, as it started mid week this week and the event goes to Wednesday for the men ie a mid week finish and worse for the women. so Im including just the Chinese Open in September and the vote will go up asap after all the Brits are out. Emma, Sonay and Liv all play tomorrow and the mens doubles for Julian and Lloyd and Henry wont last beyond Wednesday morning when the final is played. So most likely, I will put the vote up Wednesday rather than the usual Monday. Unless the ladies do something special and extend beyond that! Lets see if thats an issue. Wednesday is Oct 1 anyway, so we are still in good time if the poll goes up then.
all the week 40 events and beyond count for October - it is only the China Open that is going to slightly cause the complication!
If anyone choose to nominate Emma, Sonay, Liv, Henry or Julian/ Lloyd based on their China Open performance, they should do so for September is the basic low down! And dont dally to do it post them being knocked out as the vote will be posted as soon as possible as action ends. It may be best if anyone is considering a nomination to signpost it to me first so I can keep an eye out!
With Liv+ and Henry+ winning today, the month will definitely extend through to Wednesday - Henry + are due to play again tomorrow but Liv+ will be Wednesday morning our time. Obviously, Sonay and Emma still playing/ to play.

Sonay also wins, excellently, and into last 16. Presume that will be wednesday?
if anyone is thinking that any of Liv, Sonay, Emma or Henry deserve a nomination so far for this weeks play, do feel free to get them on here - we can change that narrative as the rest of the event takes shape- as it would help me with getting the vote going later in the week when all play for the Brits is over.
1. Cam Norrie - 4th round Roland Garros, quarter final Wimbledon and now 3rd round New York, again the last British man standing. Match of the tournament just now against Comesana, before taking Novak to 4 sets in round 3. Ive nominated Cam 3 times after each of those slams. Hopefully he gets more votes this time !
2. Hamish Stewart - 2 weeks in a row qualifying for and reaching R2 of ATP Challenger 75s ( Manacor and Cassis ), in the first beating the top seed Otto Virtanen WR 123 in straight sets for a best ever rankings scalp. Takes out his CH 442, being now live ranked 413.
3. Ruben Harris - won the US Open junior wheelchair doubles title with his Austrian partner, Max Taucher, for our only piece of silverware in the wheelchair tennis in New York. The junior events are only held here and in Paris, so a rare chance to win a big title. Ruben is playing senior events now and looks to be one to watch for the future.
4. Max Basing - for doing the double - winning singles and doubles titles at the M25 in Bali after winning the M15 singles in Thailand the previous week, cumulatively taking him up to about WR 450. Added a third title in 3 weeks in singles with another M25 win in Bali, stretching his unbeaten run to 14 matches. A very profitable run of events for Max and I see from the schedules he plans to play the Aussie ITF stretch next as he continues to progress.
5. Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski - for reaching their second grand slam doubles final of the year and coming so close to glory at the US Open. Great start to their pairing and cemented by qualifying for the Tour Finals as the September month ends.
6. Billy Harris - it may not have been the hardest set of opponents and it may have been a CH 75, but Billy had never won a title at Challenger level until now. In fact, he was the highest ranked player without a challenger title. But not anymore - Billy wins the Cassis Challenger, his first at this level and his ranking back to around 136 as a result. Nice one, Billy!
7. Francesca Jones - WTA 250 Sao Paolo SF should take her to a big new CH 73 ( up to GB #2 ) and to #60 for points won this year so far.
8. Katie Swan - for winning the W35 in Wagga Wagga. This may not be the level of tennis any of us think she is capable of, but the fact she has played and won 5 successive matches and is seemingly fit and healthy is cause for celebration. Followed up by reaching the final the following week, winning 9 matches over the fortnight.
9. Alicia Dudeney - winning two consecutive W15 singles in Monastir, and also reaching the doubles finals in both weeks, winning the second one. A significant boost to Alicia's ranking, taking her from WR692 to around WR565 and from 52 points to 82 points. And she's entered for the W35's in the next two weeks.
10. Lucy Shuker - Lucy has won plenty of series 3 events but at the Birmingham Classic in Toronto she faced the added pressure of playing fellow Brit and challenge for British top spot, Cornelia Oosthuzen. In a real battle, Lucy won in 3 long sets and , with it, probably secures top British womens player spot for the season.
11. Jack Pinnington-Jones - won his second Challenger title this season, at the Challenger 75 in Winston-Salem. Managed it without losing a set and losing just 30 games in 10 sets; impressive display and will reach a new career high of 177 in the process
12. Jan Choinski - in a month where a few have won challengers, Jan takes the biggest of them with a CH125 in Austria; his biggest ever title, beating the world 102 in the final for his highest ranking win this year. Excellent week for Jan and maybe the best British title of the month?
13. Savannah Dada-Mascoll - her breakthrough tournament. An Appalachian State senior, she is ranked #106 in the college rankings and caused the upset of the week in the ITA All-Americans Championships by knocking out the #1 ranked player as well as defeating the #51, #27, #13 and #48 ranked players. She defied all odds and won her half of the consolation draw to book a place in the NCAA championships.
14. Sonay Kartal- its tough to reach R16 in a WTA 1000 and 3 big wins for Sonay have got her there at Beijing for the loss of only 13 games including impressive wins over Parks and Kasatkina . Andreeva next. -- Edited by Lambda on Saturday 27th of September 2025 07:02:54 PM

So Henry + is into the final tomorrow, which starts in the middle of our night and should be done by breakfast.
According to TNNS, Sonay is in action around 8.40 am so should be done well before lunch.
Liv + isnt showing yet as their opponents have yet tbd but will presumably be on court later.
It depends on how those womens matches go - if both lose, the event will be over, and we will go live with the vote tomorrow afternoon, running through to Friday at some point.
If either of Liv or Sonay win, we will kick it on a day and so on and so forth. One of those ones in which I hope they continue to cause me a headache!

TNNS is showing Liv as on at 3am now, Henry at 4.30am and Sonay at 8.40am per above.
So we should have a very clear idea of where we stand by midday latest and likely before.
If all are done and dusted, in terms of Beijing, the September vote will be posted around lunchtime, therefore.
If anyone survives intact, we will push on until things are all done and dusted.
Potapova vs Noskova is first on Lotus Court from 730 am so they are applying their usual 1 hour 10 mins until the second match.
So Sonay is likely to start a bit fair bit later than 840 am and indeed could well finish after noon if 2 relatively long matches ( say a couple of 2 hour matches plus prelims ). But shouldn't finish too much later if at all.

Good stuff - from the players still in China, it would be a big help if anyone can advise if they would still plan to nominate Henry or Liv if they LOSE tomorrow? for myself, I wouldnt plan to, Id plan to nominate Henry if he wins; I believe TA plans to nominate Liv if she wins tomorrow - but would anyone be going for it regardless?
If so, if they could maybe nominate them anyway before tomorrow, so we can be ready to go with the vote soon after play is over- if it is over! - that would be a big help.
if I dont see any nominations for Henry or Liv before tomorrow, Ill assume no one plans to nominate them at this point of their journey in Beijing.
Dang - a blow to my plans! It seems Liv is not playing tomorrow, at least she was showing on an earlier version of the OOP, but now seems to only be one doubles match on it.
If that is the case, then I am afraid Player of the Month will ping back at least one more day to Thursday.
Obviously, I may be missing something - but the OOP on WTA and TNNS sites is now not showing Liv and this is the PDF version.
So, Henry and Sonay still play tomorrow, PoM vote delayed further!
If we get to Friday and September is still going, I will nonetheless start the October nominations thread as the weekend will be on us and we may start to get some strong performances worthy of nominating!
