Out of interest, did anyone else find this months POM vote a bit meh? Wasn't close, really, no tension, not that many votes (albeit August never is). And none of the players seemed to really catch the collective imagination in the nominations process this month - it was quite a small field by our standards and I think most of them were forced by me, really?!

Just left feeling I wanted the vote over (and 2 1/2 days didnt help - memo to self! Thankfully no more big slams to come)!

As an aside, the August votes have been 33, 36, 33, 34 the past 4 years and we got 35 this year. So a remarkably consistent month and this months 35 was bang on the money.

September has been similar at 31, 35, 33 and then, last year, we got a very weird and amazing 58 votes from nowhere! Jack reached the US semis, Mika won the girls, Jake had a great month, Sonay won her first WTA title that month - I think September just turned out to be a month that got everyone excited and the voting reacted to that!!

Let's hope we see something similar this next month!!

August is just that month when most people have other things going on. Nothing you can do about it so no point letting it get to you.

I found the selection this month uninspiring (usual suspects + people I have never heard of) so I almost did not vote. I feel the PoM and PoS are a valuably addition to the board so I voted pour encourager les autres. Perhaps next month is more exciting.

That's the way the votes go. Some months five potential winners, other months are more clear cut. But if we're going meh in a month where GB gets a new doubles world No. 1, GB tennis in not too bad a shape.

Agreed - on all points. I think I actually expected J and L would do it at a canter with little competition but had , personally, become a little bored of Fran and J & L (not their faults) going head to head - as Mdewey said, a little fresh blood at the top might have helped!!
