With apologies to anyone planning to do a last minute nomination, I feel we have had enough time. The US Open starts in 3 hours and I have decided to take a chance and get the August vote going.
I am also taking a chance and , instead of the usual Monday morning to Tuesday night time structure for votes, we are running it Sunday early PM to Monday night.
The vote will close on Monday night at 11PM
In case of a tie for top spot, a tie break vote will then run Monday night to Tuesday night.
We have the following players nominated - please vote for the one you think should be PoM for August and, please, when you vote tell us what you have voted and tell us why - it makes it so much more interesting for everyone else!
Nominations:
1. Max Basing - for winning the M15 title in Bali, seeded 4, just his second ITF title and first this year. His previous one was also in Bali! Will take out his career high ranking as a result.
2. Josh Wright (age 15) - completely unranked, never scored a point in juniors in three attempts, and then went on a run and won the singles title at the J30 Angola
3. Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash - extended their winning streak to 22 matches in capturing their fourth successive title and first Masters 1000 title in Toronto and reaching the semifinals in Cincinnati. In doing so, Lloyd sealed the No. 1 doubles ranking, with Julian rising to a career high No. 2. They also claim a place in the Tour Finals.
4. Oli Tarvet - comprehensive through most of the week in winning the M25 at Roehampton, losing just 16 games in 8 straight sets before the final, where he came back from 4-6 *2-5 down before winning 11 out of the last 12 games to take his first M25 title. This secured a comfortable new ranking high in the top 400, showing live 385 as I write this.
5. GB Under 12 Boys - winners of the European Summer Cup, the same team of Tomas Gabor, Kai Max Hopkinson and Cameron Rae became the first British team to win both Winter and Summer Cup trophies in the same season.
6. Alicia Dudeney - well outside the top 1000, and only 22 and fresh from college, Alicia storms through to win the W35 at Roehampton
7. Oscar Weightman - it started in July, when Oscar took the step to enter the Newport challenger grass event, racking up a main draw win. He took that form into August, which is what interests us, got to the last 8 in Dublin and Roehampton and now takes his second ever ITF title in Finland. His month as of writing is 9 wins and 2 losses, an impressive haul and exciting to see what he does next.
8. Arthur Fery - Winning his first challenger title, triumphing in the final via walkover. The title marks a key milestone in his return from injury, with strong performances throughout the tournament. This win also sees him break back into the top 250 where he deserves to be and higher soon hopefully! Not many points left to defend this year!
9. Esther Adeshina and Victoria Allen - for winning the Dublin W15 doubles and runners-up in the Aldershot W35. Significant jump in the rankings for Victoria, up from 550 at the beginning of July to a new CH of around 375 when the points go on
10. Fran Jones - winning through the US Open qualifying for the first time.
11. Alice Gillan - for reaching the final in the W15 in Spain after a run of losses this month to seeded players ranked in the top 300. This week's points will see her back inside the top 500 and close to her career high of 466 set at the end of July.
12. Lui Maxted - winning his first ITF Singles title in Monastir at the M15 event in week 34, winning the doubles title in the same week and doing enough to get a new CH ranking as a result and into the top 1000 when rankings released. Beat 3 top 1000 players on the way to this first title
Worthy of note is that the top 2 plus ties qualify for Player of the Season in January, so it isnt all about top spot!

I usually end up running through a list of my contenders before settling on someone. This month, to be honest, feels like it is one where there are a lot less genuine contenders than many others. And, for me, only one clear contender to get my vote.
Julian and Lloyd. The write up from 9Vicman says it all - they have also had the most nominations this year, with 6, and must be up there for players of the season contention.
Alicia D. Great to see a US college player on the women's side winning a tournament. So far most GB players from US college who have done really well on tour have been the men.
Alicia D and Arthur both caught my eye this month. And I was following Fran most as usual. However, this month is has to go to Julian and Lloyd - they just can't stop being great!

Julian and Lloyd are the standouts for me here, so they get my vote, but there are a lot of great performances here, especially all the first titles/first titles at that level.
Unsurprisingly it's Cash and Glasspool for me, and not just because they didn't win last month. Their consistent improvement has been so impressive, and while we have got used in the last decade to world class doubles performances, to have an all-British pair achieving what they have achieved is quite extraordinary.
Tricky one....
Fran did really well to come through qualifying. I know she was top seed, but she still had to go and win the matches.
Julian and Lloyd have just been outstanding.
I'm going with Fran.
Personally I would rather the qualifying and main draw of Grand Slam events both counted towards the same month so you could review the event performance as a whole.
