Pegula through to the Quarter Finals and odds on to meet Sabalenka or Rybakina in the semis. There is going to be a a lot of quality on show here at the end of the tournament, I think.

Rybakina lost relatively easily, all things considered

Don't know how that makes Emma feel (or if she cares)

Vondrousova has been looking remarkably (and rather unexpectedly) on form

Just shows how certain matchups favour particular players.

Of the players who made the last 16, I'd have expected Emma to beat both Vondrousova and Haddad-Maia relatively comfortably

Yes, match ups and it's simply a different day so for better or worse a player is unlikely to be at quite the same level.

Yes, though to be fair, Vondrousiva has laid down two stellar matches - and against two completely different players - Paolini and Rybakina

I think her success was more down to her, than the match-up vagaries

Agree CD. I do like Vondrousiva, crafty drop shots and all. Two great wins for her. Had Paolini pulling her hair out at one point.

Vondrousova IS crafty but yesterday hit Rybakina off the court.

Watching Coco lose the first set 6-3 to Naomi. Coco loses the set on a double fault.ouch!

Oh that was so easy for Naomi. 6-3, 6-2. I didnt even think she played her best game. Coco was pretty dire TBH.

BHM would probably have gone out in R1 had Sonay not cramped up in the third set.

The SFs are decided, two previous multiple Grand Slam winners versus two previous Grand Slam Finalists.
Osaka v Anisimova
Sabalenka v Pegula

Although both were straight sets, two decent QFs today - I was at the USO for the first time today and for the next two days as well. Funny tournament, not sure whether i like it as much as some of the others i have been to.

 Interesting, brittak

If you have the time, would love to know why it feels 'funny'

(No problem if not smile)

Enjoy your days !

(Do you watch the juniors at all?)

So pleased for Amanda. Deserved that fair and square. Great for Naomi as well. Looking like a good few matches coming up Brittak.

If anyone is watching the US Open, there is a super match on between Osaka and Anisimova. Currently first set to Naomi(7-6) Amanda has just taken the second (7-6)! Into a third. Late now in NY.

I ddn't see the matches but it does look Impressive mental strength by Anisimova, to beat Swiatek in straight sets after that Wimbledon double bagel and then get the better of Osaka.

FINAL: (1) Aryna Sabalenka vs (8) Amanda Anisimova

Looks as if it was ridiculous scheduling with the second SF played out in front of a half empty stadium. Started after 9.30 pm and finished after midnight. But hey, the matches maybe got a great TV audience.

Sort it out for next year US Open, to ensure the players get the stage they deserve!!

Abso agree Indy. Such a good match played in a half empty stadium.
