Week 34 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York, NY, USA (hard) - QUALIFYING

Another sniff for Harriet at 30-15* but Todoni again comes up with what's needed.

*5-5

Hev trading breaks early in the second.

Well I was wrong about it being a quick set. Still feels like it's Todoni's match though - she's able to get more cheap points which should make the difference in this format.

Heather 2-2*

Heather gone off the boil 2-4*

Harriet gets an *8-3 lead in the breaker but the Romanian looks like she's starting to absolutely swing for it now.

8-5*

Do I ever get bored of being wrong at tennis? No. Sometimes, I maybe do it deliberately

Huge point for Harriet at 8-6*, very brave and it's match point again. This time she makes the first serve hard into the corner and it's long.

Woo! She can cry some happy tears now.

Phew - Harriet grinds it out. Looked like Todoni was struggling stamina-wise, especially in the TB and was swinging for the fences. Hopefully does Dart's confidence the power of good.

Heather digs out a huge hole at *15-40 in the opening game of the third, then breaks.

3-0*

*3-3

Missed 4 game points at *3-1, and a break point at 3-2*

Sigh.

Yeah that fifth game is going to cost her this match. She just couldn't get out of it - forehand had totally gone.

And now her head has. That's 4 games in a row. The Georgian has not played on hard courts since May...

3-4*

Heather loses 6-4 in the third. Sad stuff really. Should have closed the *3-1 game but still might not have been enough. Quality just isn't there anymore.
