Week 34 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York, NY, USA (hard) - QUALIFYING

So pleased for Fran. It was a great draw, and yet she's had limited success on hard court, so to come through without dropping a set is impressive.

Although they're very different players with different backgrounds, I see a lot of similarities between Fran and Sonay. Hard workers, humble, more likely to be beaten than beat themselves. Not huge hitters so need to avoid being too passive.

Without writing anyone off, we seem to have moved from a Boulter-Dart-Burrage era to a Raducanu-Kartal-Jones one.

Which doesn't mean I think Burrage and Boulter can't return to form.

Just to say, we dont have a very big field in the PoM vote this month.

In case any player in qualies caught your eye?

Hop over here and add them to the list. Perhaps.
