Just making the Hollie, Brooke, Victoria treble odds better

I had 20p on Veldman, as a countertrade to make myself feel better if Hollie lost (and it should have been evens really, IMO, it was too tight)

But I've taken it off now - so, allez, Hollie, time to get a shift on !

(Maybe Naiktha will step up???)

Tegan has taken the first set 6-2 off 5th seed Abe

Naiktha lost, 7-5 6-2

A decent effort

But, and not her fault, she wasn't one on the 'hopeful' list, really, given she was playing the top seed

Tegan is finding the second set tougher going primarily because Abe, like last week, is suddenly playing better

Hollie isn't on a streamed court so no idea what's happening there - Allez, Hollie !

Hollie lost 6-0 in the third set

Which is a disappointing way to end

On the good side, she went to three sets, she was in with a shout

On the flip side, losing the deciding set to love (assuming no injury issue etc) is poor

So, she was one of my hopefuls, and who gave herself a chance, but which have not come to pass

Very bad start as well in that she wasn't just losing games in the first set, she was losing them to love and 15. Then recovery from towards the end of the first set and through the second. Then ...

Yes .... :(

Tegan also lost - again, she wasn't on my hopeful list - she did well to take it to three sets, and Abe is certainly up and down, sometimes she looks like she's only thinking about what to have for dinner - but it was always going to be a big challenge against someone who can, if she puts her mind to it, be as steady as Abe

Meanwhile, Alice has indeed won the first set

As has Brooke

So we've got two good contenders (I need them, and Hannah, to get my 3 extras - and then Vic or Jaqui or anyone else who fancies it to join the party biggrin)

But one set's not enough (see Hollie and Tegan) so come on, girls !

And Alice also loses the next set - they're just trying to upset me :(

Brooke is having a tussle with the 18 year-old but is just slightly on the right side for the moment

And Brooke comes through !

So that's one down

No livestream, from what I could see, but there were some very clos games in that second set, from the look of the score - big well done to her - Brooke lost to the eventual winner last week, in three sets, so is in good form :)

YAY !!!!!!

Alice comes through easily in the third set

She did well to regroup, keep going for her shots

Won the third set, 6-1

Someone said last week that she was playing well but had had difficult draws

And I knew Ankita wasn't a scary prospect, given last week's tennis, too

So that'll be a lovely result for Alice

Two on the board

 I know the feeling biggrin

But I need another one - after all, Hannah isn't a lock-in - and we're only at 2 so far (regardless of names, that's the fine details)

Jaqui is playing quite well at the moment - ranking is against her but this was always going to be a possible match

3-3 at the moment - allez, Jaqui - let's get it done today ! smile

Yeah that was me CD. I was pretty confident if Alice played like she has the last two weeks she'd win, but another thing to go out and do it. Lovely stuff!

Tx, Paul

I couldn't remember but I knew it was someone who has an eye

I trusted you ! (Although also didnt have a lot of faith in Ankita, which helped too)

Meanwhile, Jaqui manages to stave off some break points, hold, and then with: a nasty UE from Marie, a super worked point by Jaqui using her funky, flat, inside out forehand surprise shot, a DF, a winner from Marie, and then another flat inside out forehand - and Jaqui gets the first set 6-4

Jacqui had match points at *6-5 and 7-6* in the tiebreak, but lost it 7-9. First one she played a pretty rubbish drop shot and didn't follow it in. Second she couldn't get her backhand line over the net after a good attacking rally from both.

*1-0 in the third.
