Yes. Brooke is Wayne Black's daughter, the niece of Cara Black and Wayne Black is married to his sisters former doubles partner, Kazakhstan-born Irina Selyutina, i.e. Brooke's mum

I know the family story but what I wasn't sure about was, are any of the above Black family involved in her tennis (coaching?) or more widely in GB tennis? Presumably Wayne and Selyutina live in the UK, if Brooke is here?

My understanding was that her mother was very much in charge of Brooke's coaching (and her brother's) for most of her childhood

Father too, but less so

And they were 100% dedicated to their children's tennis - serious stuff

And I've seen Irina (99% sure it was her) several times at events, especially British Tour events etc, i.e. lower events, a few years ago, which Brooke was playing, and was younger

But I think more recently she's had a different set of coaches in ther corner - no idea if they're permanent, or whatever

So, we're up to three wins

But Mimi is now going into a third set

Mimi manages to lose the second set to her lower ranked opponent. 1-6

I hope she wakes up for the deciding set. She has a lot of points to lose.

She's a bit too scrappy today, too inconsistent. Opponent doing a lot of scrambling.

Does well to save game points and get a break point at 3-4*, but goes long then gets annoyed about a close call.

*3-5 final set.

Interesting. I think a match that Hannah might feel quite a bit of pressure in, especially if Brooke makes a good start.

Though I hope Hannah just plays it like any match, point by point.

Does Mimi have an issue with her right wrist? I just thought some of her shot choices werent her usual power balls in that final set. Loopy long balls arent really her style?

Seemed so, maybe why the frustration was coming, know she's had a few injury issues but dunno what they were then.

Brooke trains out of Sutton, I believe.

She has played a few junior tournaments at Liverpool and only once was her mum down and coaching and hitting with her, the rest of the time, it was a club coach.

Her mum was very vocal about the number of balls a young player has to hit to ever make it as a pro

Which obviously got her rather a lot of publicity at the time - not necessarily of the good sort

I saw her at Redhill, and at one of the others, can't remember which one
