Swan winning the first set just before the rain set in, was good timing, The other (last) quarter-final is at a much more precarious position at the tail end of the 1st set.

Yes I've just seen the score, the second set was close, and the 3rd was at 2-2 (albeit with breaks of serve) before it got away from Swan. Never mind. There's been some good tennis played this tournament.
Unfortunately she needed assistance to leave the court. She walked off but had staff carry her bags some time after her opponent had left the court. During much of the 3rd set she was walking very gingerly, frequently holding the back of her neck between points and not sitting down at changeovers.
I'm not surprised, sadly. The first set was a noticeable step down in intensity from the previous day. Can't ever fault Katie for guts and endeavour though, she plays tough. Time for some well-earned rest and recovery, after two very good wins, and a competitive match just gone.
I didn't mention it last night but when I was watching the first set she was occasionally stretching: simple stuff like twisting her torso and touching toes .. and combined with her not hitting the ball as hard, was a little concerned. When they went off for rain I was relieved and hoped the break would give her a chance to get a massage. If she was worried about any impact upon her long term condition I expect she would have stopped but in these situations she seems to be carrying on. I'm sure she's taking advice in these situations
