I mean I wouldn't be so bothered for her first match back, being a bit slow or rusty. It's not unusual. But it was Garcia...
Sonay loses 5-7 6-4 6-3
Really nothing in her game was working. Served poorly. Returned terribly. The majority of her groundstrokes landed half way inside the service box. Painfully passive.
But I'm pretty confident another week's hard work and she'll have shaken things out a bit.
It now looks as if they have inserted two mens matches on Champions court before Emma's match. The various betting sites and news sites have a mix of start times for Emma's match from 15.00 to 19.00. 19.00 now seems more likely.

Katie is playing like she knows she's peaked, and is trying so hard to prove to herself she hasn't. When she went on a blistering run of form and moved from the 100-ish ranking, she played with a breezy confidence and a smile, nothing seemed to phase her.
It's gone, and I think she's got a battle to find herself and ultimately accept that she's probably destined to play for a while at around the 60 to 80 ranking. It must be tough though knowing you're probably never going to get any better and you just have to settle for the level you're now at.
I watched a bit of Venus Williams last night and just felt sad. I feel similarly with Djokovic who I think will break his body in pursuit of not retiring.
I went on insta earlier and saw Katies bio says human first, tennis player after. Theres clearly a lot of soul searching going on for her and hopefully she finds a good route for her.
I understand Sonay needing to take time off after Wimbledon - and maybe protecting an injury - but one loss to Caroline Garcia is not a great hard court season.
