Week 32 - W35 Roehampton, Great Britain - Hard

All credit to Vic

She's managed to get it to a TB, and saved a MP

And then won the second set on her first SP

She's using her high forehand onto her opponent's backhand very effectively (it's not a moonball, not a heavy top-spin - somewhere in between )

And just making herself hard to beat, coming in occasionally, moving it around, defending

Hannah had points to go up 5-1

A rather ambitious dropshot....

And Kino****a broke back - Hannah's still got one break though

5-3*

Hannha won the first set 7-5

Which even from a neutral point of view was slightly generous to her opponent

Vic lost 2-6 in the third

Which, overall, is a fair score

But she did herself proud, given the rankings, and really made a match of it, and you can't ask for much more

A nice start from Alicia Dudeney

3-0

But France's Sarah R R started tentatively yesterday too and then got going

Hannah a break up in the second now.

From the bits Ive watched she seems to have more power/zip on her shots. Not sure if its cos she has more power than her opponent anyway but she definitely seems to be hitting the ball harder.

Super win from Hannah

She had to dig deep to save a lot of break back points

That's three wins, in straight sets

And they were all matches where she could quite easily have lost a set

A serious improvement in her backhand - and a bit more attack on the service return, which is welcome, but could be more

All good

To the powers that be, (you know who you are smile) I know she's not in the final but is Hannah now entitled to an SE at Aldershot ?

She's in the qualis list, I believe, and I think that starts tomorrow, on the 9th, as the main event is listed as starting the 11th. So under the definition, she's "still competing", yes?

"Special exempt: A player that is on the Qualifying Acceptance List who applies for and receives an exemption into the
Singles Main Draw of that weeks Tournament because he reached the final in Singles or is otherwise
still competing on the first day of Singles qualifying, at a Qualified Tournament in the previous
week."

In addition, Hannah would almost certainly get a wildcard and is only 1 place out of direct entry and Ranah, who was a very late withdrawal again is still on the entry list.

I don't think she wants to use up a wildcard here

But yes, direct entry would be nice

Of course, assuming she needs it - better just to win tomorrow and it all goes away
