Alicia comes through, so that just leaves Lily to finish, although she has only just started her match

A little shout-out for our juniors

We had four juniors in R1: Mimi; Hannah; Brooke; and Ruby

Brooke beat the 6th seed, over 600 places higher ranked than her

Hannah beat someone about 300 places better ranked

Mimi got a win

And Ruby played a super match, and posted a very good score, only losing 5 & 5 to the 8th seed, despite being unranked

So that's three out of four wins, and a very honourable near miss

Not Brits but strangely, Rodionova and Ku, who play next round, have met once before and that was at this self same event in 2023

Which struck me as unexpectedly coincidental.

Or - as it should have been - and thanks to OscarR

VERSION 2

A little shout-out for our juniors

We had five juniors in R1: Mimi; Hannah; Brooke; Ciara; and Ruby

Brooke beat the 6th seed, over 600 places higher ranked than her

Hannah beat someone about 300 places better ranked

Ciara (unranked) beat a player on the cusp of the top-1000

Mimi got a win

And Ruby played a super match, and posted a very good score, only losing 5 & 5 to the 8th seed, despite being unranked

So that's four out of five wins, and a very honourable near miss
