Maestrelli played a local qualifier, Tiago Torres, in his first round match, the second set being decided by a tie-break.  Up to that point, Torres had him on the ropes...

This looks like a step up for George, but a level he gives flashes of being able to play at. Win or lose there's a lot to take from this match I reckon.

 Tennis abstract rates George at an ELO rating of 166, well above his ranking; the Italian at 203, below his actual ranking. Which implies Loffers has a decent shout at going through here.
