The guardian reports

Raducanu is without a coach in Washington amid uncertainty over the future of her partnership with Mark Petchey and has only hitting partner Alexis Canter in her corner,

Whats the story with Petch?

Not sure anything much has changed, it's still this informal sort of week to week thing.

Petchey said during Wimbledon that Emma really needed a second coach, or maybe just one coach which couldn't be him due to his TV commitments.

I assume he is otherwise engaged this week.

Cool - the Guardian words suggest something deeper with the words uncertainty in the sentence. Maybe I read too much into that !?

Well, there clearly is uncertainty  confuse

Maybe I've missed something more but I'm not aware of anything?

I think he said on TC they had a week together after Wimbledon. I hope he can make it work as Petch has been the best thing to happen to Emma since 2021. He believes in her and as a result she believes in herself a lot more. She was reluctant to play doubles for ages but now it turns out she's pretty good at it and the experience will no doubt help her singles game.

She must be feeling very confident now. She has played some good singles matches and the results are starting to come and she now has the bonus of a couple of doubles wins. Winning can become a habit once you get on a roll.

Sakkari is Emma's "bunny," to use a cricket term. Good chance for her to make the final here

Yes Emma has a good chance of reaching the final with the seeds being beaten, the latest being Pegula. If Emma beats Sakkari  she could play an opponent from the past in Clara Tauson. We could have a repeat of the 2021 US Open final as Leylah Fernandez is still in the top half of the draw.

I think it's good for Emma's singles all this doubles, also good for the mixed at US Open. Infact I wondered if that's why she is playing dubs - to get in training for playing with Carlos !! I hope he is doing the same.

I guessed that Emma was using the doubles as a bit of light relief but also to practice her volleys and overheads which have been a glaring fault in her game. I hope playing with Carlos doesn't become a distraction as she's finally looking the part on court but the beauty of her involvement in the mixed doubles with him is that for top singles players it's a bit of a warm up tournament like the 9 hole tournament before the US Masters

She certainly looks confident now, and at times looked over smiling at her very small team, where a few weeks ago she seemed dependent upon seeing Percy/Petch there giving her support.
