Emma controlled her own service games relatively comfortably in the opening set, just a couple of errors when she was serving for the set, leaving her 15-30, but came up with a good T 1st serve, then helped out by an awful b cc error from Naomi. The key game featured two Osaka dfs, one Osaka b cc error and one good f cc from Raducanu.
2nd set early break for Emma thanks to 4 Osaka errors after 2nd serves. Good play from Naomi earned her a bp at *2-1 but Emma responded with a good f cc then two unreturned 1st serves to take the game. A super f dtl winner from Raducanu to start the following game, Osaka two dfs from 30-15 then Naomi b cc wide for the break.
Emma had a match point at 5-1* but failed to block a 1st serve back into play. Another mp in her service game at *5-2 saved by a good b cc from Naomi. A rare poor f error from Emma after a good wide 1st serve gave Osaka a chance to break but saved by a good wide 1st serve.
Naomi played the vast majority of the stunning shots and also the dreadful shots. A few super shots from Emma and a few passive groundstrokes that Naomi destroyed.
QF: Emma Raducanu (GBR) WR46 v Maria Sakkari (GRE) WR90
They have played three times before with Emma winning in two every time. Maria just knocked out the 2nd seed Navarro so she must be on form, should be a good match.
Playing against Sakkari has suited Emma in the past and as stated above has never lost a set to her and additionally never conceded more than 4 games in a set.

Very true but Maria served over 80% first serves against Rich Emma and if she does that again- very difficult to break I fear
She certainly will be on Monday though possibly short term, as has been said her QF points from Washington last year won't come off until the following rankings. Though of course she could keep on adding points this week
Longer term though she clearly has great momentum, especially against Katie's unfortunate lack of form just now.
And as you pointed out earlier in the thread she's by miles top Brit in the race since all but 226 of her points have been earned this year ( left from last year are 108 from that Washington 250 QF, 10 from the US Open R1, and 108 from Korea 250 QF with her done for adding ranking points after Korea at the end of September ).
She is up to live race #26, achieved largely by consistently winning a round or two in big tournaments with no SFs so far and this just her 3rd QF ( the biggest and her best points scorer being Miami ). If she can start getting to the sharp end of tournaments she can certainly finish the year in the top 20 and who knows quite how high.
Emma/elena won first set- somehow. Its messy but good fun from them. Also v nice to see Elena looking like shes having a good time considering all the ***stuff*** going on around her atm
Raducanu is without a coach in Washington amid uncertainty over the future of her partnership with Mark Petchey and has only hitting partner Alexis Canter in her corner,
Whats the story with Petch?

I think it's good for Emma's singles all this doubles, also good for the mixed at US Open. Infact I wondered if that's why she is playing dubs - to get in training for playing with Carlos !! I hope he is doing the same.
QF:- Emma Raducanu (GBR) / Elena Rybakina (KAZ) CR1138 (569+569 but singles 46+12) def Giuliana Olmos (MEX) / Aldila Sutjadi (INA) CR95 (45+50) 7-6(6) 6-4
Emma and Elena are now live joint ranked 273, each with 303 points from just two counters ( one of which has maybe a lot more still to come - though that does look a stretch too far )
