They can't seed her - seeding isn't subjective at the US Open (or anywhere else now Wimbledon has abandoned it), no?
And, yes, I think she'd love a wildcard to the US Open and I think that's very likely and, assuming she hasn't got injured, perfectly justified - the empty men's stadium as everyone had gone to watch a women's doubles match was just hilarious
Provided she's not injured and wants to play the wildcard is certain.
As a sidenote, Fran is now 4th alternate for the main draw after a couple of withdrawals.

I did realise - I was sort of musing out loud really (or in type!).
More to the point, if that is the level she is going to be playing at, she will be a really dangerous floater in the draw!
I have to say that Ms Osaka couldn't look more disinterested if she tried: I can only imagine that this demeanour is practised and deliberate, but she looks like she would rather be anywhere else but on the court.
QF: Emma Raducanu (GBR) WR46 v Maria Sakkari (GRE) WR90
They have played three times before with Emma winning in two every time.
Maria just knocked out the 2nd seed Navarro so she must be on form, should be a good match.
