That was tricky but I enjoyed it :)

My own feeling is that it's not a coaching problem - I've no idea who his coach is but I think he's doing a good job

For George, it seems to me it's a question of age, of maturity - and of wanting it enough

I've every faith he'll get there :)

George is with Unique Tennis which is Ryan Jones and Jo Durie's project. No idea who is his individual coach.

Is Ryan related to Alun Jones who used to coach Jo?

A really excellent set of tennis from George

He took care of his own service games with consummate ease - so many service winners and those that weren't basically gave him an esay second shot

And then half way through the set, when he got a chance on the other guy's serve, he took it nicely

And that really was the set done and dusted even though we were only half way through

Pity that he went an early break up in the second, then played a loose service game in the sixth to hand it back & with that, virtually, the set:  6-3 3-6...

Yes
But he was playing faultless tennis
And it's difficult/ impossible to keep that up
Getting broken back wasn't a problem, for me, but the next two games were poor

Latest live rankings :

230. Crawford 244 points
235. Monday 242 points
241. Peniston 232 points

254. Loffhagen 208 points ( could go #236 on 239 points if he wins the title ).

They could yet be knocked down a couple of places by other players still competing this week who could exceed 244 points.

Reminder: the last US Open qualifying acceptance last year was ranked 230. Wouldn't mind that dropping half a dozen or so places this year.

Tantalisingly close- one more win each would have sorted things!
