Worth pointing out that, this being a W50, there's a 1 WTA point for making QR2 and 2 points for making FQR

Given that all the players are unranked or ranked outside the top-1000, this is a major opportunity for all the players

Millie Bissett is defending 8 points here from last year

But Indy Spink could get her third counter, I believe, and maybe Mia?

Lambda keeps an excellent record of the points of players who aren't ranked yet - but there's a lot here for whom this is their best opportunity

So there are three rounds of qualifying  CD?

No, only two rounds of qualifying. It is one point for reaching the FQR (today's winners) and 2 points for qualifying.
I don't believe they ever have three rounds of qualifying for W50's and above

Thanks. Was slightly confused by the wording. Although I am old to remember the days of three rounds of qualifying for most events up to tour level.

Sorry, badly worded/wrongly worded - my fault

1 point for winning your first match and 2 points if you win the next one too

Five GB players guaranteed through to the main draw of the W50 (and two other possibles) - it doesn't get much better than that biggrin

Shame for Amelie to have to retire

but well done to Mia W for making the main draw of a W50

(Rose says she's a really hard-working girl, still a junior, who covers her costs from coaching, and doesn't have much esle in the way of resources, so a very worthy qualifier here)

Good to see Anjali Kotecha - not sure I get the Kontecha in joke - get her first ranking point.

If it's my fault, it wasn't a joke, just a normal basic typo

No 'pesky' upsets today
But still wonderful to get five players into the MD
And four of those five are unranked

I was completely wrong about the wildcards biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Not a junior to be seen

Although it was basically all the others at the top of the acceptance list who - by my calculations - should have got in anyway, so I don't see why wildcards were needed (apart from the bottom one or two, maybe)

My sneaky suspicion about Eva turned out right, though  - and that is SUCH good news

So, it's Dani D, Holly H, Eva, Vicky Allen and Katy Dunne with a SR

The really notable youngsters in the draw aren't ours, in fact

2009-born Maaya Revathi is playing, as is Vendula V who made the semis in Wimbly juniors

The main draw has just come out. The wild cards have gone to Holly Hutchinson, Victoria Allen, Danielle Daley and Eva Shaw - the first three being the next on the acceptance list once the vacant slots were taken i.e. two available slots plus the two SE places.

Edit - Wrote this some minutes ago and forgot to press submit
