Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - DOUBLES

A really high quality match, with Julian & Loyd just having the edge (obviously!).  Henry & Harri had match points in the 12th game!  Well done to both pairs.

3 match points he saved. And then they went on a 11 out of 13 point run. That was the match from that point

Another high quality match.  Pity it had to go the way of the fourth seeds.

*****

SF:  (4) Marcel Granollers & Horacio Zeballos (ESP/ARG) CR 15 (7+8) vs (5) Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool CR 22 (12+10)

What a match! A shame that either pair had to lose.

Both great semis. The final 4 is very interesting. Hard to see many breaks of serve in those!

Im going Hijikata and Pel to play Granollers and Zeballos in the final but it could be anyones!

Indeed and I reckon the final will be Arevalo & Pavic vs Cash & Glasspool.

Basically they are both wide open. I really do hope Julian and Lloyd get it - the title- and am right behind them. I just think G and Z are big event players and Hijikata the most talented left. That said A and P are top pair in the world and Lloyd and Julian best on grass. So wide open.

TNNS score predictor makes Arevalo and Pavic 81% likely to win the semis; Lloyd and Julian are neck and neck at 54%.

Arevalo and Pavic took the first set 7-6. Tie breaks seem almost inevitable at this stage of a grass court major.

Very close, though, and could well still go either way

Quite a noticeable difference in height between Pel & Hijikata:  6'6" compared with 5'10"!

Set all and - guess what...another tie breaker. Although that set did have a break each

Down to a final set serve off now.

Some great inventive play from Rinky here; Pel nervous as heck! Saved two MP's, 9 all now in TB

So, the unfancied (except by Jon) ALTs prevail against the top seeds, by 6-7(2) 7-6(5) 7-6(11-9) - & the first part of his prediction comes true. What a battle, with no quarter given!  Yet another top quality match, which lasted a minute shy of three hours.
