Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (Womens') (grass) - main draw

It seems ironic that some people who spend so much time on a forum dedicated to British players would argue that they don't want to see British players

Who doesn't want to see British players?!

The result of less / no Wimbledon MD WCs would clearly be less Brits but folk's argument is regarding whether the system for Wimbledon and the Slams in general is what it should be.

This arguement is always fun and interesting, but ultimately moot as the wildcards aren't going anywhere!

Where they are particularly ridiculous is awarding 8 in the mixed for a 32 draw. But I think the US have the right idea to be honest.

Start of play delayed due to rain. All outside courts are covered, so it will be a while yet before Sonay can get on court.

*2-2 early stages. Tomova hitting fairly clean at the moment, Sonay just needs to watch she's not sucked into battering it back and forth through the middle from the baseline.

Sonay standing too far back for my liking. Probably cost her that first break point which should could have finished off if she'd been up the court a bit more. An error gets her the second one though.

*4-2

Yes quite often Tomova using the drop shot because of this and it's working most of the time! Good to get the break though aww

Proves a decisive break. Tomova's level takes a dip and Sonay eases through the set 6-2.

Combination of Sonay easing off the pedal and Tomova feeling she's nothing left to lose have suddenly made this a little tighter.

From *4-0 to *4-2 second set.

A little bit of a jolt no bad thing as normal service resumes.

Dispatched a solid pro 6-2 6-2. Absolutely ideal. Well done!
