Yes. lets not bully Harriet.

She's an important part of our top-rated alll-brit doubles team, with Maia Lumsden. And I agree she seems unhappy and frustrated on court often, and feel she might improve her singles results by working with a sports psychologist.

She didnt collect bakery products over 2 sets - she lost 5-7 in the third. For a wildcard, that's really NOT letting the side down.

I don't see any bullying, or saying she played awfully, just people pointing out she doesn't seem to be enjoying playing.

I read it back and didn't see any bullying either

I couldn't find anyone saying she'd let the side down

What are you refering to, wimbledont?

Where did I miss it?

Why is Katie suddenly allergic to the net?

Sorry, bullying may have been too strong - I just feel Harriet IS in a bad place, and could do with some support.

Our chats in this forum about Harriet are more emotive than about any other player. She has the ability to make people feel. No indifference.

Mika broken after having game points 2-4*

Game is just a bit too lightweight still but she's doing fine in the actual rallies.

Katie into a third. Don't feel great about this one now either.

I don't see her game as at all lightweight

It's a tad one-dimensonal

But it doesn't need variety when the basics are firing

For a set and a bit, Katie was playing as well as I think I've ever seen her. Then came that game at *1-2 when she dropped serve with multiple double faults and it almost jolted her out of that zone where she didn't seem to feel she could miss. Against most players she'd probably already be off the court with a two set win, but unfortunately Badosa pounced on that sign of weakness and upped her level.

Stayed very mentally tough to break back at the third attempt for *1-1 at the start of the third though!

Mika *2-0 second set having lost the first 6-3.

Katie did the exact same thing when playing Paula at the French last year, was in complete control and then started to bottle it in the 2nd and let Paula play herself into form.

Katie was serving 1-2, 30-0 in the 2nd set and hit three double faults in four points. The momentum completely changed at that point.

For me Katie is OK as long as she's on the front foot and able to hit first strike tennis. Get her moving/thinking, and she can be in trouble.

Emma and Mimis handshake was a bit frosty - I guess they may not know each other too well.

Yes i thought that. Emma could have been a bit warmer/generous towards her.

 I didn't see it but interesting .....

I have just seen it and don't get it. I didn't see frostiness, I saw a perfectly respectful handshake. I don't know if somehow Emma was expected to do more against a young Brit  confuse

I think Emma engenders far stronger and varying emotions than Harriet

I'm glad no one was saying anything nasty about Harriet

But if people are just pointing out that she looked morose on the court, then that's what this forum is for, too - to give information and impressions, to make other readers want to read it

I certainly wished Harriet the best and a win as always but yes it's hard to watch more because it's sad to see her struggle so I certainly want her to do well... support is I think needed and hope she receives it! Saw Emma as well I think it was more a statement about how well Xu made her work handshake and off back to business! Think I read somewhere Xu admires Emma I'm sure it's nothing to bad.

I agree with you Indi. I didn't see the frostiness either.

As put before I agree just wasn't overly friendly but don't see why it needed to be!

Sorry CD bad choice of words. I meant that she's still got some growing and building to do as she gets older that will also see her get the additional strength and power needed to boss some more of these rallies or not be quite as vulnerable at times, not that she has a game that is intrinsically lightweight in its style or approach.
