I'm stunned.  Jack clearly not on form.  no  Too much weight of expectation?

Do you think Jack was not on form? Not sure. Didn't see it all. But from what I saw, Jack was playing fine

But Cilic was just better

Can't help loving the August Holmgren story

Giles Hussey came SO close to beating him in QR1

I watched a fair bit of Holmgren's match against Watanuki in the FQR - with five really long sets and tons of MPs saved and the Japanese contingent going crazy

And now, here he is, age 27, with a 4.5 hour mammoth match, with three more MPs saved, and into the third round

He started in June, now it's July and August is still going.

(may take your mind off JD match ?)

I'm not a great Cilic fan but have to say he was the better player today, sadly.
Jack will be back.

People at work football fans who are only aware of tennis once a year when Wimbledon fortnight comes round say to me 'Well we haven't got anyone in it, have we?'

When I say we have the no 4 seed they act surprised and ask how come they haven't heard of him yet.

Then I admit that he's never been passed the second round here but counter that he's expected to do much better this time.

Now I'll have to go back into work on Monday and say Jack got a tough draw and went out in the second round again.

Then in football circles Jack will be lightly written off for another year with comments like 'some players are no good on grass' and/or 'can't handle the home pressure'.

Maybe I should just stay home.

Don't think Jack played well from what I saw anyway very much let Cilic do as he wanted for the first two sets. To much pressure I think I don't think Cilic needed to do anything special today sadly.

Cilic out thought Jack. He knows grass, was finalist here, won queens twice. Has been building his game through lots of matches in the challenger grass events. Watch out as the event progresses

Oh dear, thought it was going five, went to serve my supper, came back and Cilic had nailed it. Hey ho - he was awfully good and Jack was not, for the first 2 sets.

No pressure then Emma

Yeh over to you Cam. I think he's got a good chance of going at least one round deeper.
