Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - main draw

So pleased for Billy, Oli T and Arthur today especially, huge wins for them all (and Cam too, but that was more expected!)

Medvedev (9) the first men's seed to bow out, in four sets to Benjamin Bonzi (7-6(2) 3-6 7-6(2) 6-2).

And now Tsitsipas (24) has retired at two sets down (3-6 2-6) against another Frenchman, Valentin Royer.

And the pesky Polish doper, Majchrzak, dumped out Matteo Berrettini (32) in five sets.  cry

What a great day of results! Great to see so many of our lower ranked guys pulling off some wins. Huge moment for Arthur, Oli and Billy.

And some massive serving going on - just watching the two French guys against Zverev and Fritz - really engrossing play. Been a great day of tennis, to me.

Yep, (3) Zverev match suspended at 1 set all ( looks as if he saved 3 set points in all to avoid going 2 sets down ) and (5) Fritz suspended at 2 sets all.

Of the the other 14 bottom half seeds, 7 are out including (8) Rune and (9) Medvedev. And of course (2) Alcaraz only won in 5 sets but at least won.

That's a fair amount of carnage.

The GB guys' win ratio 4-3 leads the seeds' win ratio 7-7.

Why is Sinner not deemed a pesky Italian doper?

Tomorrow im looking at Jack and Evo as obvious winners and maybe one of Loffers and JPJ, probably Loffers more likely.

of the guys who won today - Cam has, to me, an evens chance against Tiafoe. Billy has a decent shout against Borges; not sure Arthur v Darderi, and a match of great experience for Oli! Maybe 2, most probably 1 through, to the third round. With JD, hopefully we can get 2 in total to the third round, more would be impressive.
