Im expecting one win for the men today- Jubby- hoping for two (Jubby plus Ive a gut feeling Ryan may have experience on his side against Landaluce); 3 would be a miracle to me, at least!

I have every faith in Ollie T being able to grind out a win for the college boys.

And young Oliver repays Lambda's confidence with a convincing win:

QR2:  (qWC) Oliver Tarvet WR 719 defeated Alexis Galarneau (CAN) WR 210 by 3 & 2  biggrin

Curious that, when it's interrupted coverage of Ryan's match to report on the outcome of matches on other courts & conduct one of those cringe-worthy interviews with a pesky, there's been no mention of which I'm aware of Oliver's result or any sign of a brief chat with him.  furious

Had to switch off as that was a brutal watch.

Hamish was playing so well, serving huge. The Frenchman should have been a goner - Hamish had match point at 5-3, but got tight and sent a forehand long. Then played his first tight service game of the set while serving for it and let his man back in. Such a tough loss as was on his racket

I presume that that match will be Oliver's first taste of a best-of-five sets encounter.

And Hamish takes full advantage of his lucky break on Monday:

QR2:  (qWC) Hamish Stewart WR 550 defeated Luca van Assche (FRA) WR 182 by 7-6(3) 4-6 7-6(11-9)  biggrin

He trailed for most of that MTB!  Didn't see that coming at all!  Good job I'm not a betting woman!  smile

*****

FQR:  (qWC) Hamish Stewart WR 550 vs Leandro Riedi (SUI) WR 506 (CH = 117 last August)

The Swiss beat the Argentine q24, Gómez, in three sets.

Reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated etc. etc.

Hamish came back from 4-8 down and then 7-9 (saving two MPs) to win the final set tiebreak 11-9. Supreme effort.
