Week 26 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - men's qualifying

Lajal qualified last year and played well against Alcaraz so not a surprise he beat Jan (bit harsh Jan did not get a WC considering other choices, no?)

No idea how they played for that first set. But once I turned up in set 2 Lajal was a level above and to my mind it was more about him than Jan.

Thanks, I hadn't realised that about Lajal last year. But I must admit I was impressed today ( I kind of should have found this out before I bet on Jan! )

And I've said the same re Jan missing out on a MD WC.

Yeah Lajal was a livewire last year against Alcaraz. Good player on grass.

Super win for Ryan - Bagnis has been top 100 so no slouch.

Overall, 4/7 so far is a pretty good return. Hopeful that Ali G can get through and then let's see what Oliver can do at this level.

Just a question, which might be something I've missed...
How did Bagnis, ranked 839, get into qualifying?

With today's rankings.

A very good day so far.
I wasn't expecting anyone to qualify, but a good start.

What's the most wins in QR1 we've had? Surely 4 is pretty up there.

Come on Ali! Make it 5 please smile just an observation but so many players playing haven't had a single grass match prep! Seems crazy but I guess there aren't that many events so maybe some couldn't get in anyway? Even Jan and Giles seemed respectable today so fair play so far!
