It wasn't very good to be honest. Lamens was standing so far back but Hannah find any real width or angles, hit far too many errors, and didn't make anywhere near enough first serves.
Just needs to get the basics in order and shed have made that a contest.
There were 7 games in the middle that were good competitive tennis
But all the others were pretty ropey
Too many UEs. Obvious problems. Easy for Lamens to pick on the weaknesses.
She needs to 'do her scales', as the French would say
However, that said, it was a useful match
The LTA did right, IMO
It's an important part of the path for these youngsters who really have the potential to go far to see the higher end (they'll be playing far lesser ranked players all the rest of the year, that's taken care of)
Hannah played SOME excellent tennis - and she saw top-100 tennis in its strengths and weaknesses - Lamens played a really poor game in that second set - 2 DFs, a weak UE - but only ONE poor game - Hannah, take note.
Yeah definitely CD. A worthy hour given where she is. I also rather suspect/hope that in the cauldron of Wimbledon and another week of good practice on the grass she will do a little better - she raised her game at qualies last year after all.

Mmm. Emma should have a good chance if backs Ok, Mimi s draw looks tough but I cant see Peyton has played a grass match this year so you never know. Fran in with a chance with Jodie a sliver of a chance. Ostapenko has been celebrating a birthday in the Med so comes into this pretty cold which might be good for Sonay. Poor Harriet seems to have got the worst of it.
