Barbora hit the ball through the net in the last game played.

... and they acknowledged it and Ms Burrage got the point, but it looked to me like the umpire initially told her that she had seen the ball hit the net and go over. A bit unfortunate, as the last thing anyone really needs is an umpire that imagines events.

Or is it maybe worse that it seems more she seemed to say she saw something that never happened based on another assumption - ie. she both said that she saw it go over and stated that there was no hole in the net when actually there was. So did she actually lie re having seen it go over?  Whatever, extremely poor umpiring. Good stuff Barbora.

Hannah Klugman confirming that she was set to go off and play Wimbly qualis but, just after her doubles match here with Mika, Ian Baites tapped her on the shoulder and said: hold up, Hannah, just a nod - you've got a main draw one

A very good quality tiebreak with some excellent rallies. The girls just come up short 11-9 having led *8-6 (Harriet had a tricky high backhand volley which she netted, and I think she might be disappointed not to have got it into the court).

Never mind.

Those Hannah quotes would have been written by the agency who do all the PR for the Boodles, send press releases, manage the media centre, and facilitate all the players' many demands (Djokovic once insisted on being flown in and landed on the Boodles lawns by helicopter which caused a major headache), the media interview requests, as well as keeping the website updated and getting their own quotes.

I've known them very well over the years - they're absolutely lovely and help out with a lot of the British events (during my time as a tennis journalist, I LOVED going to the Boodles more than any other event, purely because they were SO welcoming, rather than treating you as something close to vermin like many of the media relations teams).

But they're super busy and trying to do about 15 different things simultaneously which is why they've made that error

Emma did better in taking Joint to a 3rd set breaker than her 2 subsequent opponents have if that's any consolation.

Emma is the only player so far to have taken a set off Joint.

They are the youngest Eastbourne finalists since Austin and Jaeger in 1981.

Joint wins 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (10)

Fantastic tennis match that could have gone either way.

Incredible final. Emma pushed Joint close but not as close as this!
