Week 25 - LTA Wimbledon wild card play-offs (pre-qualifying) - women's

Brooke had good leads in both sets. Won't be happy to have let that one get away from her.

hmmmm..... they'll both be hot and bothered.....

And Dani P isn't here

And Hollie and Megan will probably sail through and I'll be full of what-could-have-beens and feel as sick as a parrot biggrinno

So Katie Swan is there.

Having gone on that we won't be seeing Katie involved, I clearly got that one wrong and fair dos to those folk who consistently thought otherwise.

I also had that thought originally although my mind was changed by someone else's reasoning that it's worthwhile for her to commit to 3 games this week and if she falls at the first hurdle she can still go off to Spain

Neither Tara nor Freya looking overly zealous to win, with Freya broken serving for the match at 5-3 in the final set.

Alicia also a game away now.

Allegra Korpanec Davies 6-3 0-0* Sofia Johnson

Tara Moore 3-6 7-6(4) *4-5 Freya Christie

Katie Swan *2-1 Esther Adeshina

Katherine Barnes 6-3 4-6 *2-5 Alicia Dudeney

Pleased for Katy but expected a bit more from Hep. What are her plans, is she likely to go to college?

She's going to Ohio State, joining Nao Nishino who has just had a successful first year there.

Just to add the obvious:

As someone said previously, this is really a very big event in the GB tennis year

There are only 16 players

And there are 2 prizes of £15.5k (minimum)

A MILES bigger prize that normally on offer, and a one in eight chance of getting it

Yes, it's a curious event isn't it? It seems to me that for the participants it's the biggest tournament outside Wimbledon. For members of this forum it's, minute for minute, the most eventful tournament given the impact upon our players. For everyone outside of these two groups it hardly exists

Alicia and Tara get over the line in their matches...but not before Freya lost a 5-0 lead in the final set champions' tiebreak, Tara winning eight points in a row before Freya got another on board, eventually Moore winning it 10-7.

Katie S gets the first set and Hollie/Angelica about to start.

---

Tara Moore d. Freya Christie 6-3 6-7(4) 7-6(7)

Alicia Dudeney d. Katherine Barnes 3-6 6-4 6-3

---

Allegra Korpanec Davies 6-3 *1-2 Sofia Johnson

Katie Swan 6-1 1-0* Esther Adeshina

Hollie Smart *0-0 Angelica Blake

Always been a fan of Tara and she knows how to play on grass but that's a marathon match against Freya

No offence to Tara, but honestly Freya had so many chances to win that.  We've seen this so often over her career - she gets into a good position but can't win the match.  That's why she's only ranked 686.

Based on rankings, the top 4 seeds would be Alice, Naiktha, Esther and Freya - is that right? Freya has gone already and Esther about to lose to Katie.

Wish we could see the actual draw as it feels very open.

Yes Freya had at least one match point there. Was ahead in the match almost from the very beginning but let it slip each time

Still no posted draw, but Katy plays Tara next, and Katie is in the other half.

I think the draw is probably in line with the matches posted by Lambda
