At least the scoreboard is working, even if the LTA still haven't published the draws !

Kat Barnes currently steamrollering Alicia, 3-0 up

Freya with a fast start over Tara in the battle of the doubles specialists, leading 4-1 although Tara's starting to get into the match, had a chance to get the break back.

Brooke Black vs Alice Gillan is tight in the early stages. Brooke has just broken for 2-1.

Hep vs Katie Dunne is 2-2 on serve

Just to add the obvious:

As someone said previously, this is really a very big event in the GB tennis year

There are only 16 players

And there are 2 prizes of £15.5k (minimum)

A MILES bigger prize that normally on offer, and a one in eight chance of getting it

Tara's got the break back. Freya leading 4-3 on serve

Putting it in context with non-grand slam tournments:

* Women it is the same money as runner up for the Nottingham 250K

* Men it is more than runner up for a Challenger 125K

(this highlights the inequality that still exists between men and women below the headline tournaments)

Brooke bottled that first set. Was 5-2 up with the double break, but Alice has won 5 straight games to take it 7-5

Pleased for Katy but expected a bit more from Hep. What are her plans, is she likely to go to college?

Tara broke Freya back to avoid defeat, and then narrowly takes the second set on a tiebreak.

Obviously not able to watch the match, but I'm not sure either would be a particularly strong wildcard if they got that far.

Allegra Korpanec Davies *0-2 Sofia Johnson
Tara Moore 3-6 7-6(4) 0-0* Freya Christie
Alice Gillan 7-5 4-5* Brooke Black
Katherine Barnes 6-3 *3-4 Alicia Dudeney

All I know is we're now 2 hours in, and three 11 a.m. start matches still going

Alice Gillan toughs out a 7-5, 7-5 win over Brooke Black. Was down in both sets before coming back
