Watching Carlos earlier I noticed he was asking the ball kid for his towel. I thought the powers that be had ruled they couldnt do this any more and had to fetch their own towel from the boxes. Have I got that wrong?

I agree, I'm sure it was banned a while ago.

It was with Covid and for a while after. But has gone back to involving ball kids in some tournaments now.

I've said it twice & I'll say it again:  it's not fair on the ball boys & girls & should continue to be banned.  furious

In the Alcaraz Munar game I believe that the time taken to travel the inordinate distance to the towel was one of the items addressed in conversations between the players and the umpire regarding time violations. Not excusing the filthy habit, but it does seem to be one way that the players are saving precious seconds in order that they may bounce the ball another thirty times, scratch another eleven body parts and remove clothing from various crevices prior to serving.

I completely agree .. it's not in the job description is the least important aspect, more importantly it's unhygienic. I'm convinced it's only a time-wasting tactic

Jacob's serve has not been good! Real struggle.

QF:  Jiri Lehecka (CZE) WR 30 defeated Jacob Fearnley WR 60 by 5 & 2  cry

Jake very subdued.  Nice kit Lehecka's wearing.  wink

A lot of shaking out the arm. Couldn't tell whether he had a shoulder injury?

10 DFs in just 10 service games is really not great.

The number of empty seats for Jake and now Jack is baffling. These seats are not cheap.

You saw it the other day - Dan Evans match was almost empty for the first set and completely full for the second.
It will be corporates still eating lunch or having a drink in the shade.

Into a third set for Jack - I cant watch today, I am afraid, presuming the courts are playing a lot harder than usually in terms of bounce etc?
