Week 24 - ATP 250 - Libéma Open - 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands (grass)

Excellent - I wonder if Humbert has recovered from his injury against Jake?

Excellent, well done Dan. That should guarantee a Wimbly MDWC for him, if it was in doubt.

A while since he has beaten a player of Rinky's ranking level. And it will give Dan confidence for sure.

QF:  Petr Nouza & Patrik Rikl (CZE/CZE) CR 126 (63+63) vs (2) Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool CR 27 (16+11)

I wonder where Luke Johnson is this week.  Arends is playing with Grégoire Jacq here (other half of the draw) & he's ranked quite a bit below Luke, so they're not seeded.

Yeah, well done Dan.  I watched some of that.  Could only find a betting stream - I thought was supposed to be on Sky?

Some courts are not televised including the one Dan was on today

Probably all go pear-shaped bu Dan's holding his own very nicely so far against the 2nd seed

(and on Tennis TV)

Well, Dan got it to 5-5 and was 30-0 up but some wild forehands meant the Frenchman held serve - and then broke Dan to take the first set 7-5

Very much in it though and after being down 4-1, did well to get back in the set.

Come on Evo - I see the next round opponent would be Borges who got a walkover against Virtanen (who won Birmingham last week, I think?). Borges is in decent form but has no real grass pedigree that I know of. Incentive to get through, today, if needed!

It did go pear-shaped:

L16:  (2) Ugo Humbert (FRA) WR 20 defeated (Q) Daniel Evans WR 217 by 5 & 3  cry

Still good to see Dan get a few wins though. Can build on this. Presumably will be in queens next week?

But that's not really half as pear-shaped as one would have expected, given about 200 places difference in ranking

Agreed - and he should go back top 200 after this week. Im sure hell see this week as one he can build on.

Prior to this week, the last time Dan won three consecutive matches was October 2024 in Almaty, and the time before that was his big tournament win in Washington in the summer of 2023.

The entries and rankings thread does not mention Dan for Queen's next week. Is this correct?

I'll be making a special effort to go and see him at Wimbledon qualies the following week.  Does anyone else plan to go?  I've been a member of this board for more than a couple of decades, but have never met a fellow board member.

I'm doing the big zip wire in North Wales this weekend - should be exciting!
