Sonay's composure is such an under-rated weapon; it has it's own sort of intimidation, especially in the tough moments.
well put
Sonay is so comfortable on all surfaces which is really rare. I don't know how high her ceiling is, but her floor is very high.
Sonay seemed to be playing well within her capability yesterday, playing within large margins, possibly because in the first set she didn't need to stretch herself much to keep winning points. I felt though that when Kasatkina raised her game, Sonay found it difficult to raise her game. She did eventually. However, she does seem reluctant to move from behind the baseline, and she'll need to do that if she's to progress much higher. She clearly has the ability to do that, but looks to be fighting with herself almost. Perhaps it has something to do with her rapid rise
Bit gloomy here at Queens but the forecast is better. Just missed seeing Jodie and Sonay at practice as they passed me on the way back to the clubhouse as did one or two others. Katie due on court any minute.
Heather in a massive battle but playing some really good tennis, taking the first set 6-4.
Katie looks massively unconvincing so far but this is a tricky draw for your first match on the grass. Alja may not be near her best but she knows what she's doing. *5-3
Im going for the first time on Monday (first ever event in fact for me)
Any hints and tips appreciated :)
Well I've never been to Queens sadly, so no specific tips, but have been to quite a few tournies big and small. Looks like weather going to be good for you. I think Queens is quite smart but be comfortable - take hat and shades (though you might jinx the sun). Bag or small rucksack with your life essentials, your own food and drink unless you want to queue and pay high prices. There will be a bag check at entrance though I expect. I don't think it will be as crowded as the mens' event which by all accounts is rammed. Sorry can't be more help, but am envious to tell the truth. This year will only be Nottingham for me which has it's own charms and quirks.......... Oh and of course watching live is just such a great experience.

Thank you Julia
I definitely didn't jinx the sun as despite it being pretty overcast I burnt both my legs from knee to the bottom of my shorts haha!
Other than that had a lovely day on Andy Murray Arena
I did buy a sandwich as the queues at the cafes on the road in were all rammed and it was absolute crap for £6.50 but there you go
