For a while, it looked as though there might be another, even better, one, but sadly, it wasn't to be:

L16:  Shintaro Mochizuki (JPN) WR 178 defeated (Q) Johannus Monday WR 243 by 6-4 6-7(5) 6-3

Oli is up to live 246, GB #9, ahead of Paul.

Each possible further win would move him further up the GB live rankings, ultimatelly to GB #5 if he were to win the whole shebang.

I'd imagine he'd get a Wimbledon MD WC if he were to take the title. Otherwise, he is certainly putting his name in the frame.

I know Billy was slight favourite, but JPJ is underranked due to college and I suspected it would be a close match.

Well done JPJ - I recall he had a good result on grass or two last season - I think? Not a major surprise. He wont actually rise in the ranks as it stands due to last years results.

Landaluce will be a handful, but lets see

Yeah JPJ beat Cam on the grass last year. If he goes deep this week or next, could be a shout for a MDWC

Billy was going for a Top 100 ranking and only being a slight favourite on his best surface against JPJ says a lot.

Charlie's singles ranking may be about to take a bit of a nosedive, but his doubles exploits this week should give his doubles ranking a fair boost.

Been a good week still for Oli. Mochizuki looks like he could be an interesting proposition on grass, be keen to see how rest of this week goes and next couple of weeks as well.

Will that give him an SE for Nottingham next week - who else could be in contention for that?

ETA - Svajda, Rieid and Shimabakuro also look like they could take advantage of an SE to Nottingham as well, I think?
