Week 23 - ATP Challenger 125 - Lexus Open - Birmingham, Great Britain (grass)

I thought Oli was always against it Tu is good on grass so not a bad effort! Had more hope with Ali but he's about to lose! JPJ a set up though.

Despite the tussle in the tie-break, from what I saw of the match, Tu never really looked like losing.

Ali made more of a match of it:

QR1:  (q6) Yosuke Watanuke (JPN) WR 183 defeated (ALT) Alastair Gray WR 377 by 6-4 6-7(2) 6-1

I thought Ali might have had a chance in that one. Not to be.

Hoping Ryan and Henry get results later. JPJ seeing it through would be good.

Probably not enough Brit interest in the doubles to justify a separate thread:

L16:  Blake Bayldon & Reese Stalder (AUS/USA) CR 237 (124+113) vs Joshua Paris & Takeru Yuzuki (JPN) CR 234 (112+122)

They could well end up playing the top seeds, Lammons & Withrow, if they win that one.

L16:  (4) Marcelo Demoliner & Sadio Doumbia (BRA/FRA) CR 117 (91+26) vs (WC) Lui Maxted & Jack Pinnington Jones CR 1751 (778+973)

Interesting new partner for Doumbia!  Either way, the pair of them will probably have too much for Lui & JPJ.

L16:  Billy Harris & Marcus Willis CR 981 (872+109) vs (3) Théo Arribage & Constantin Frantzen (FRA/GER) CR 104 (54+50)

L16:  (WC) Johannus Monday & David Stevenson CR 505 (397+108) vs (2) Santiago González & Rafael Matos (MEX/BRA) CR 87 (53+34)

Nice to see David on home turf & getting the benefit of a WC.  He & JoMo may just give the second seeds a run for their money.

Well done Jack we needed that! Still think they need to think more about there Wildcards though and not just pick down the list... The two right now playing aren't in great form and it's showing sadly.

First mens grass court win of the season , well done Jack.

Charlie v Alex Bolt should be interesting - Bolt is ok on grass from memory (arent all Aussies!?) - I think from my train journey sighting last year, hes Katie Swans partner isnt he, or was/is?

Waste of a wildcard on McHugh. Done nothing recently and never on grass as I recall.

Not even sure Kyle was the best idea! Really poor wildcard giving in my opinion.

Aidan did well on the grass as a Junior. He has been on a downward journey over last two years itf15 standard only and some startling losses there

FQR:  Jack Pinnington Jones WR 339 vs (q9) Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN) WR 204

And now rain, I presume, has stopped play - with Ryan 6-7(3) 3-5 down against Wong.  cry
