Week 22 – ITF W15 San Diego, USA - Hard

It's so lovely to see Katie back (again)
I really hope her injury struggles are behind her because she is, along with Emma, our most talented Female (IMO). It would be amazing to see her able to show her talent on the biggest stages.

Yes I agree its wonderful to see her back. I wonder if she will come over and try to play in the Wimbledon wild card play offs? I would love to see her there.

Katie is on court and, in a carbon copy of yesterday, is a set and a break up.

Make that a double break and *3-0. MTO now surely for her opponent who lost 14 points in arow before saving break points, only to lost the third game.

Imagine how Swan must have felt when she was able to put the foot on the gas and accelerate away in that final set.

For the record Katie has withdrawn from this weeks tournament but is scheduled to play next week.

I wondered whether the break she has had since Sharm El Sheik in April, was to ensure full recovery before another tournament, rather than continuing despite a little niggle. If so, then this is a sensible approach. I know some folks hope for her to play in Wimbledon qualifying etc but her physical health is the primary factor. I would prefer to see her build resilience and if that means one low-level tournament a month for a while, then so be it. Just great to have her back .. thoughts about ranking can wait in my view
