RE: British Tennis Forum Player of the Month Vote - May 2025

I'm another vote for Anna McB. Anna always performs well, but I was particularly impressed by her resilience in the face of a lot of setbacks this month and some excellent wins against her main rivals.

As mdewey says, the thread about the Virtus Games is well worth a read to learn about both the triumphs of the Para Tennis team and the environment (and nonsense) they have to contend with. Starts at:

Thanks Tanaqui - gaining some momentum?!

Ms Dunne, it's good to see her back. Would have been Mr Norrie if he had dispatched Djokovic.

Pretty strong month with plenty to be considered.

For me it came down to Jack, Cam, Jay or Alice.

If Alice had prevailed in that final vs Ranah S for another title, before the big turnaround, she would have certainly had my vote for such an impressive 3 weeks with a number of top 500 wins, and big rankings rise to see herself into the top 500 at age 26.

And you know what, stand aside guys, she is still getting my vote.

Alice Gillan is my PoM.

All the British girls impressed this month but in the end I had to go for finally achieving a breakthrough at the age of 28 to win her first WTA clay court event. Katie Boulter for winning the Clarins WTA 125.

I could have voted for several players this month, but in the end it came down to a choice between Alice and Katy as I nominated both. So I'm going for Katy for making so much progress over her first three tournaments back. I would have gone for Alice if she had beaten Ranah in that final.

But Jay is my PoM.

As others have said - so many I could have voted for, but I chose Alice as this was for me the most unexpected progress

Thanks Jan and Christine - and Jay and Alice are certainly both in with a good shout as things stand.

A reminder that top 2 (and ties) qualify for player of the season later this year. So even if your preferred nominee is behind first place, they could still make second and your vote could be important to the PoS contenders.

Not many of this months field have already qualified for PoS 2025, so most of the players in this poll would be candidates for the PoS field.
