I would suggest the following:

MDWC
Dart
Watson
Jones
Burrage
Kvitova
Banks
Xu
Stojsavljevic

Lilly gets in direct into QWC

QWC
McDonald
Rajecki
Appleton
Klugman
Swan
Dunne/Stoiber
2 x playoff winners

I think Swan is staying in the USA (but could be wrong)

And am not sure Mika will get a MD one, given she hasn't won a grass court match yet

No chance for Katy Dunne, IMO

Both Dunne and Swan were in the play offs last year. Neither have played much since so no real reason for either to be promoted to qualis this year.

Yes, more chance of Dani Piani getting one than Katy Dunne, I reckon

Would they consider Mika for MDWC based on her holding the US junior slam? Not sure.

That presumably is paulisi s reasoning, and others have said the same (the 18u title obviously doesn't really  count for MD)

But what with exams and stuff, she hasn't played much recently, hasn't won any matches

Depends how she's playing in training and if they want to be really bold

Lily is 28th alternate for qualifying. I think she'll struggle to get into qualy directly.

Katy D is hoping to be on the play-off. She hasn't played much but could be a surprise.

I don't see Mika or Armani getting MDWCs unless they show some grass court form in the next 10 days.

Armani has just beaten the world 101 so thats a decent start,

Re Katie Swan she's not entered in anything next week but the following week she's entered for a W50 in Spain, that suggests to me that, subject to how she feels after this week's tournament, she'll be in the WC playoffs.

Pliskova hasn't played since the US Open. And Garcia has announced her retirement. Would be surprised if either got a wild card, although Wimbledon always has a tendency to surprise.

Pliskova retired at the USO with damaged ankle tendons and has had surgery. Not likely to return any time soon.

Why dont we turn this into a Wimbledon wildcard prediction competition as there is always a lot of speculation this time of year especially on the womens side.

I think that there is an obvious reason that they dont make the decision until just before the championships and that is because they want to see who is in good/the best form out of the players who are there or thereabouts.

Wildcards for home nation players in grand slams should always go to the players who have not yet fulfilled their potential who are there and thereabouts and showing good form in the buildup. (Like boisson).
This is why I wouldnt be that happy if Lily got one at 29 years old and although Heather now 33 has always been one of my favourite British players she has reached and passed her full potential and would fall into the same category as Lily for me and in a couple of years I would also put Harriet into that category if she doesnt consistently get and stay inside the top 100 where she wouldnt need one anyway.

IMO the wildcards should be

Dart
Only just outside the top 100

Jones
Not yet hit her true potential due to injurys

Burrage
Not yet, its her true potential due to injurys

Banks
Not yet hit her true potential due to injurys

XU
Seen a glimpse last week of potentially what she could do, but we need to see a bit more over the next couple of weeks and may be replaced by Klugmann or Mika depending on who has the best Grass season leading up to the championships.

Klugmann
A British girl getting to the final of Roland Garros on Clay is massive for me andhas to be rewarded, but we need to see how she fares on Grass over the next couple of weeks.

Stojsavljevic Watson Mayazaki would be peed with this and might buckle down and go to prove everybody wrong and storm through qualities as Heather and Lily might have more chance of coming through qualification than the younger three so this could mean more British players in the MD .

I think by the time we are close to Wimbledon, it will all speak for itself as it usually does what I would definitely be up for a Wimbledon wildcard prediction competition.
Hint, hint

 Start one then.

RE Heather, WC's aren't just about giving players an opportunity, they are also about creating interest.

Ex Champions get them and certainly the last 2 Venus got weren't justified based on her results but she is popular, Heather falls into the same category, if she plays, the court is full.  Most of the people going to Wimbledon won't have a scooby about the Juniors but 90% of them will know who Heather is and want to watch her play.

If Heather doesn't get a MD WC, I'm a Dutchman. I guess I would at least have to buy some clogs.

I believe the initial wildcards are announced next Wednesday the day before the wildcard playoffs. So it's a bit tight for a competition, but I'll set one up for the women tomorrow. It'll be a straight name your wildcards competition with the winner being who gets the most right. It will be 8 main draw and 8 qualifying and British players only. Entries to close Tuesday night and final results announced after the playoffs. (Since we don't know who will be in the playoffs that will add a bit of a challenge to guess the winners). Someone else can do the mens though.

Yes, Heather is a slamdunk

As emmsie says, to please the crowd and tv spectators - it's important

And as thanks for turning up for BJK when asked - that's always is and should be a factor in wildcard attribution

And she's quite nippy on grass too

Is it not 8 MD and 9 Q WCs?
