I think there are at least 18 players with a world ranking in addition to the juniors and others mentioned above who might enter. So don't rule out the likes of Naiktha, Freya, Kat, Tara, Vic Allen, Emma Wilson, Dani, Brooke - I could go on.... These women aren't playing anywhere else this week so it is going to be competitive. Sign-in closes in a couple of hours, but who knows when the LTA will publish the draw !

Do you think Freya is injured? Or something?

It was weird not to see her in Nottingham in any shape or form

She wouldn't have made the draws in singles or doubles without a wildcard, and I guess she's too far down the pecking order at 678 in singles and 217 in doubles. She did play Ilkley qualifying on a QC, but lost first round.

I think Freyas best days are past in singles loads of power but little accuracy.

Yes, but she wasn't in the draw even in doubles, though

She'd always get a wildcard for doubles at Nottingham, surely?

Only two wildcards allowed in the doubles - went to Jodie/Sonay and Hanah/Mika and Heather/Harriet didn't get a look-in either.

It's 3 for a WTA1000, 2 for WTA500 and WTA250 - one of which is an exemption wild card. But either 4 or 6 for a WTA125, depending on what other tournaments are happening at the same time.

Really pleased with these wildcards. In particular, I think that the 3 wildcards for the juniors are all fully deserved - US Open Juniors winner, RG filles RU, and Mimi as a form player with 2 recent top 100 wins - and having all 3 of them will reduce the individual spotlight and pressure on each one of them. All 3 are potential matchwinners against (some) other players in the draw.

Boisson WR65 can feel hard done by; though she does get a qualifying spot on an SR. In fact there will only be one French woman in the MD, Gracheva, who has now slipped down outside the top 100. This may prompt some trans Manche head scratching about the Wimbledon acceptance list being based on rankings from 19/5, before RG has even started.

Tbf all the Slams base their singles MD lists on the rankings 6 weeks before. I assume that is down to the ITF / Grand Slam Commitee?

Though it does become 7 weeks for Wimbledon with 6 weeks before being mid Rome. And really shaking the rankings up, there is another Slam during that period.

Wimbledon could do nothing about Gracheva or any other similar drops. They could have though re Boisson ( and Jovic ).

A problem for the French though is, as I was saying, Wimbledon behaving like French, packing in our youngsters  biggrin

Boisson has already had a WC into a Slam and Jovic has had 3. Both should make it through qualifying (unless they end up in the same section)

Being ranked mid 60s and 80s respectively, I imagine they will be top 2 seeds?

that makes 10 GB women in thee main draw, with the possibility of course of more through qualifying. Is this a modern record?

This made me think of the likelihood of an all British Round 1 match, so I tried AI/Co-pilot which suggested a probability of 29%.   Seems high to me, but when I asked the question, I forgot the effect that seedings would have.   Is there still a possibility that Katie B could be seeded?

Boisson has never won a single match on grass

Not in pro adults, nor in juniors

I'm not sure I'd put money on her to come through qualis
