It's not anything like a clay court match which is sort of helping Jodie out I think. Hanging tough but Collins has more in her locker power and feel wise she's able to pull out when she really needs it.
Tiebreak a case in point sadly. Did well to get two points from the set - one deuce she just missed a drop shot, second deuce she hit a good wide serve but Collins read it and redirected the pace very well cross court. Never quite looked like winning it really.

Pretty good from Jodie but could have served much better and made a few wrong shot selections. Collins was nowhere near her best and made plenty of unforced errors but always had a bit in reserve.
Very weak stuff from Katie at *5-4. Gave Monnet a couple of cheap points and lost the depth. Had otherwise looked pretty comfortable but momentum shifted.
Poor end to the set. But then, this is kind of the equivalent of a British wildcard playing a clay courter at Wimbledon that we'd be hoping, if not expecting, to see an upset. And with Monnet having gone further by coming through qualies, this was always a banana skin.
Out of interest, what were the odds of getting each of our players through today? Presumably Emma and Jake were slight favourites, Jodie not so. Was Katie favourite with the bookies?
