Maybe we should remember her first Slam was Wimbledon last year and this her first FO in seniors. Looking back at her Instagram photograph when she was in hospital after her operation, she is doing just fine IMO . Plenty of potential and good experience now behind her. A couple more years to catch up.

She actually got MDWCs for Wimbledon in 2022 and 2023 as well. But agreed, she's doing very well to establish herself in the top 100 (live in the top #50). Additionally, she only needs a few wins on the main tour between Wimbledon and the US Open to gain places (most of her points in that period last year were 35k events).
Oh Katie B! Not in the first set 6-1 to Madison. Second facing defeat at 5-1, holds serve and then breaks Madison 5-3, Katie serving. Played some lovely tennis the past couple of games! Most probably too late but shows what she could do. Bring on the grass!
Not been watching until I popped in to see Sonay DF. But, particularly in the less serve orientated women's game and on clay, a succession of breaks in itself doesn't really say to me - poor, let alone dreadful.
It was the quality rather than just the breaks. It was like neither wanted to win
OK, thanks, yes seems not the greatest and an opportunity missed here for Sonay. Though in the grand scheme of things, as CD says, she is of course doing well and so much to be positive about.
Agree there's much for Sonay to feel good about over the last few months and indeed the France Open. It was a really strange match where both played reasonably well when receiving.

Meanwhile there's a third round match between French wild cards Boisson and Jacquemot. Which is something.
And one with good stories
Lois is young but she wasn't much as a junior
Lois was siddenly playing really well, getting results, and got her first MD wildcard last year
Her first real chance
And then, JUST before RG was due to start, she ruptured her ACL
Needed an operation, obviously, was out for about 8 months
And everyone felt so sorry for her
Elsa is a completely different kettle of fish
She's about the same age as Lois but Elsa was the real starlet of French tennis
She was world number 1 in juniors, she won RG juniors, the first French girl to do so for ages, everyone was expecting amazing things from her
And it was OK, but not brilliant, a perpetual disappointment really, but everyone saying, maybe next year it will click
And here we are now

Interestingly Elsa couldn't speak English when she won RG juniors, and still struggles now. Which isn't a criticism, but it must be more difficult travelling the professional circuit when you are not confident in English.
As for Lois, so happy that she's been able to return from an ACL injury that can be career-ending, and the support she's received from the likes of Daria Saville. Also nice that we are able to talk about Lois in a different context!
